Awqaf of America

About Awqaf of America

The endowment platform powered by Al-Furqaan Foundation

Powered by Al-Furqaan Foundation

Awqaf of America is an initiative of Al-Furqaan Foundation—built to provide a permanent financial engine that sustains and expands its most impactful national programs.

Rather than building new initiatives from scratch, Awqaf of America strengthens and scales a proven ecosystem of education, Quran access, and community development.

Mission

To build and steward permanent endowment funds that safeguard and expand Al-Furqaan Foundation’s most vital national initiatives—ensuring that Islamic education, access to knowledge, and community infrastructure remain firmly rooted and continuously advancing across generations.

VISION

A National Endowment Built on a Proven Foundation

Awqaf of America, aims to build the largest Islamic endowment in America that perpetually generates wealth, and re invests it to strengthen Islamic institutions and Muslim communities across generations.

Why This Model Is Different

Most endowments fund undefined or fragmented initiatives. Awqaf of America is different. It is directly integrated with Al-Furqaan Foundation—ensuring that every dollar supports:

  • Proven programs
  • Existing infrastructure
  • Scalable national initiatives

Awqaf of America is guided by experienced leadership committed to ethical stewardship, transparency, and strategic growth of endowment assets.

awqaf of america is a division of Al-Furqaan Foundation®

Vision

Within a generation: every American masjid protected by waqf covenant; every Muslim family able to establish a lasting waqf as naturally as it pays zakat; a national endowment measured in the hundreds of millions; and Awqaf of America recognized as the standard-setting waqf institution of the Western world. The mandate is the United States; a sister institution for Canada is a possible long-term aspiration, not a plan commitment.

Mission

To build, protect, and steward perpetual Shariah-compliant endowments — and the institutions they fund — so that the religious, educational, and social life of Muslims in America rests on permanent foundations rather than annual appeals.

our story

Awqaf of America, a Division of Al-Furqaan Foundation®, was born from a simple but profound realization:

the Muslim community in America needs institutions that last.

For over two decades, Al-Furqaan Foundation® has demonstrated what impactful, sustained Islamic work looks like by strengthening communities and building trusted institutions across the United States. It has distributed millions of Quran, witnessed thousands of Shahadah, educated thousands of young Muslims – training many into Huffadh, established masajid, and much more through initiatives that span its four verticals:

Dawah & Outreach
Education
Community Services
Advocacy & Engagement

built on trust powered by vision

By establishing a perpetual waqf, we are creating a sustainable funding engine that will first strengthen and stabilize Al-Furqaan Foundation’s® initiatives  and then be replicated to empower Islamic institutions across America.

about Al-Furqaan Foundation®

Al-Furqaan Foundation® was established in 2003 with the mission to deliver the message of The Quran to every individual in America in order to fulfill 5 rights The Quran has upon us as Muslims, which are: Believe It, Recite It, Understand It, Act Upon It & Convey It.

Over the years, Al-Furqaan Foundation® has launched several projects to fulfill this mission. Our projects primarily serve the US but also expand into Canada, with future plans to take Furqaan Project, our Quran Distribution Project, to other English Speaking Countries like U.K, Australia, and India, InshaAllah.

Al-Furqaan Foundation® is recognized as an international dawah organization. We work closely with many national interfaith organizations for the betterment of society. While having continuous focus on self-development and outreach, we paved our place as a leading grassroot organization in the American Muslim community.

Al-Furqaan Foundation® is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax exempt nationwide dawah organization based in Chicago, IL.

about the founder

Wajahat Sayeed is an executive, strategist, and institution builder who has spent more than two decades building and leading Muslim institutions in the United States. He is the Founder and President of Al-Furqaan Foundation® and has been instrumental in the development of Awqaf of America, an undertaking focused on strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of Muslim institutions through endowment infrastructure.

His interest in awqaf grows from a practical institution-building challenge: organizations with important missions cannot depend indefinitely on annual fundraising, individual personalities, or short planning horizons. Durable institutions require durable capital, disciplined governance, and structures designed to preserve mission across generations.

Sayeed began his professional career in investment management before moving into strategy and operations consulting, including work with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He brings that financial and strategic background, together with decades of firsthand nonprofit leadership, to the challenge of building sustainable waqf and endowment structures for the American Muslim community.

He is also Chairman and Co-Founder of Criterion Financial Inc. and the author of THE PROPHETIC CEO™, the first book in The Prophetic Leadership Series™.
