What is a Waqf?

A Waqf (plural: Awqaf) is a permanent Islamic charitable endowment in which assets such as cash, real estate, or investments are donated and preserved, while the returns generated from those assets are used to support ongoing charitable causes.

Unlike traditional donations that are spent once, a Waqf continues to generate impact indefinitely—making it one of the most powerful forms of Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) in Islam.

As a fully audited 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, we maintain transparent governance and deliver impactful reporting to ensure donor trust and confidence.

Why Waqf Matters

A one-time donation creates a single moment of impact. A Waqf creates a lifetime—and beyond—of impact.

One decision today can benefit you for eternity.

Our Endowment Objectives

Our Waqf sustains free Quran distribution and dawah literature nationwide, funds Quran Academy scholarships and new Islamic schools, expands digital media and TV to counter misinformation about Islam, supports masajid construction and maintenance in underserved areas, and builds youth, social welfare, and counseling programs.

We also enable named Family and Individual Funds for targeted legacy giving, allowing donors to create lasting, personalized impact aligned with their values.

Islamic Education

Dawah & Media

How Waqf Creates Perpetual Impact

Donor gifts the principal in cash, assets, real estate, or shares, which is pooled in the Al-Furqaan Foundation Endowment Fund. The principal is invested in Shariah-compliant assets such as real estate, sukuk, and screened equities.

The annual returns generated from these investments fund Quran education and community projects, while the principal is preserved and grows, creating a continuous cycle of sadaqah jariyah.

Personal Waqf Funds follow the same cycle, where the principal remains intact and the returns fuel the donor’s chosen causes.

The Need

The Muslim population in America is projected to double by 2050. However, with growth comes increasing challenges:

The Ummah needs sustainable, long-term financial solutions—not temporary relief. Waqf is the answer.

Waqf vs. One-Time Donation

A one-time gift creates a single impact, whereas a Waqf generates impact every year. The principal is preserved and grows instead of being spent down, providing continuous spiritual reward as emphasized in the hadith about sadaqah jariyah.

Additionally, Waqf creates a legacy for your family and future generations, ensuring your charitable deeds continue to benefit the community indefinitely.

Investment & Oversight

The Al-Furqaan Foundation Endowment Fund is governed by an independent Board of Trustees and a Shariah Advisory Council. Investments are diversified across halal portfolios including U.S. real estate, global sukuk, and screened equities.

Our target return is a conservative 5–8%, with principal risk carefully managed. Donors receive annual external audits and detailed impact reports. An online dashboard provides real-time transparency for all supporters.

Transparency & Investment Integrity

We uphold the highest standards of governance and accountability:

Your trust is not assumed—it is earned and protected.

How You Can Contribute

You can contribute cash gifts (one-time or recurring), real estate or property deeds, stocks and mutual funds (halal-screened), retirement or life-insurance beneficiary designations, and estate gifts through Islamic wills.

We also offer named family funds starting at $50,000, corporate employer matching gifts, and endowment pledges payable over 3–5 years. You can start a Named Family Fund with a minimum of $25,000 or add Al-Furqaan as a one-third estate beneficiary.

Individual & Family Waqf Projects

Create a personal legacy of perpetual charity by establishing your own named endowment fund. These funds accept cash, real estate, or securities as principal, which is invested with Al-Furqaan Foundation’s Shariah-compliant portfolio.

Family Waqf

Create a Named Family Waqf and build a legacy that benefits your loved ones and the broader community.
